Those nights with no expectations...

Back at Johnny and Claudia's for our very last night in California! Well, other than the entire night spent driving home...

What we expected to be just a night hanging out and talking, and then going to bed turned into another karaoke song fest, along with pool and darts!

Claudia telling Emilee how badly she is going to school her at darts.
Like right here.
Johnny was really feeling the groove, and standing just wasn't doing it for him.

This entire silly night was started when their neighbors, Ryan and JoBeth, showed up to go for a walk, but a small party ensued instead!

El Matador State Beach

On one of our last few days we visited El Matador state beach and caught some breathtaking scenery.

Path down to the beach overlooking the ocean.

First we had to take in the stunning cliffs and massive rocks along the coastline, but once the sun was too much, we couldn't resist jumping in the large, warm waves that were entirely different from what us Oregon girls are used to.

Drying off after getting tossed around in the waves.

Backpacks and Birkenstocks.

One fairly entertaining part of our visit to this particular beach was that there were models and photographers snapping photos in the crashing waves by the large rocks. ANTM? Probably not.

Fun with Funyuns!
If you are ever in the Malibu area, and want to go to a great, not over-populated beach go to El Matador! It's so pretty and very relaxing.

Poolside Refreshments

You know, not having a job or any obligations can be hard. All day we had to drink sodas...

Play in the pool...

And go out for sushi.

Dragon roll. Drool worthy.
Pizza and penis ice
Man, life is rough.

Lights, Cameras, Karaoke!

One of the best nights of our trip was spent at Chrissy's family-friends, Johnny and Claudia's house for a BBQ with great music, sparkler shows courtesy of Johnny, and a lot of karaoke!

Chrissy, Dalton, and Emilee sing their hearts out while Johnny is hypnotized by his own sparkler.
Sienna and Claudia lovingly serenade each other in a beautiful duet.

And after exhausting our wind pipes, it was time for bed in a cozy, vintage cabin-esque guest room, only to wake to a delicious breakfast the next morning.

Venice: The Beach

Ocean Waves
Our first dip in the California ocean.
exciting ocean

Venice Beach

The California coast and the Oregon coast are so different in so many ways. First, we would never be prancing in the Oregon coast in shorts or a dress. And second, people would never think to gather for a drum circle because it is so dang windy on the beaches in Oregon! It was a weirdly different and pleasant experience.

We made it

This guy has to be on drugs

Oh, and then there was the crazy guy that was babying the dead, mangled, greasy seagull he found...

Venice: The Street Art

Street Art
Really cool art and all, but look at that cat!

Street Art Ichy Emilee

One of the best parts of visiting a new city is getting to see all the street art. LA had a lot of cool art blasted all over the outside of buildings. All of this is from the Venice board walk. It's amazing how much some colorful painting can brighten up a dull alley way. In my opinion the whole world should be covered in pretty colors.

Venice: The Boardwalk

Tattoos, skating and street art. These were all very common sights we saw on our day spent in Venice walking the boardwalk, and playing on the beach.

After filming Magic Mike, Matthew McConaughey decided to relax and teach surfing.

Though the vendors and cafes have much to offer, most of the fun we had in Venice came from watching all of the interesting people and street acts.

Typical modes of transportation on the boardwalk include roller skating/blading, long boarding, and biking. Though it was more convenient to walk, we obliged with beach cruisers and skates.

We traded these boys an interview for their documentary for a really awkward picture of all of us.
